Jazz and the rhythms of maloya, rooted in my Réunion heritage. Music that travels, a piano that tells a story.
Explore my journeyJazz, roots and horizons
Maloya is part of my roots. Jazz offers freedom, harmony and improvisation. At the piano, their meeting becomes a personal musical language.
Born in Saint-Pierre on Réunion Island, I began recording with Réunion Island in 1997 and won Pian’Austral in 2000. Albums from Jazz’Oya and Jazz amwin to Tropical Rain and Mon Maloya trace this journey.
Collaborations with Dominique Di Piazza, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Jean-Marie Ecay, Michel Alibo, Emmanuel Félicité, Giovanni Hidalgo, Lionel Loueke and Randy Brecker have helped shape different stages of my career. From trio to big band, this music is built through encounters.
In January 2010, I perform at the Olympia as part of the Carib’In Jazz Festival. Tours in China and work with the SWR Big Band in Germany broaden the journey while keeping its Réunion roots.
